Occupational therapy is the art and science of enabling engagement in everyday living, through occupation” – The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists

Occupational therapists are primary health care professionals who help people to maximize their independence and quality of life.

At PainCare, our occupational therapist evaluates and treats hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder injuries. The individualized treatment plan may include range of motion and strengthening exercises, fine motor skills training, use of modalities to decrease pain and swelling, custom made splinting or braces to support weak muscles and painful joints and promote healing, use of proper assistive devices to increase function, or functional ergonomics.

Our occupational therapist is an authorizer of Assistive Devices Program (ADP) of Ontario, whom is authorized to evaluate and prescribe mobility aids (i.e. walker, manual or electric wheelchair, power scooter) and assist with funding applications (i.e. ADP, ODSP, Hardship Funding).
